Introduction

  • Surgical enlargement of the diameter of the pylorus by means of a Y-U antral advancement flap technique.

Uses

  • Gastric outflow obstruction caused by hypertrophy of the muscular or mucosal layers of the pylorus.

Advantages

  • Alleviates pathology associated with delayed gastric emptying when the cause is stenosis of the pyloric area Pyloric stenosis.
  • Y-U advancement flaps result in significant widening of the stenosed area.
