  • Injection of a bleb of local anesthetic into a small, localized area of skin to be desensitized.

Uses

  • Inserting large cannula.
  • Epidural injections.
  • Placing chest drains in conscious animals.
  • Removing small cutaneous masses.

Advantages

  • Simple procedure.

Disadvantages

  • May not provide adequate analgesia for procedure.
