Indications

  • Used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers (including NSAID induced ulceration   Analgesia: NSAID  ).
  • Used prophylactically to prevent stress ulcers.
  • Adjunct therapy for reversing metabolic alkalosis.
  • Treatment of Helicobacter gastritis   Gastritis: helicobacter  in combination with antibiotics.
    4-10 times more potent than cimetidine   Cimetidine  and has minimal effects on hepatic enzymes.
  • Immunomodulation.

Interactions

with other drugs

Antacids, digoxin, ketoconazole or metoclopropamide

  • Ranitidine may reduce their absorption or effect.

Sucralfate

  • Reduces the absorption of ranitidine.
