Indications

  • Reserved for life-threatening infections eg endocarditis or septicemia caused byPseudomonas aeruginosa, andBacteroides fragilis  Bacteroides fragilis  in neutropenic patients.
    For Pseudomonas septicemias anti-pseudomonal penicillin should be given with gentamicin for synergisitic effect.

Non-depolarizing muscle relaxants
  • Piperacillin enhances effects.
    Probencid
  • Reduces excretion of piperacillin.
