Interactions

with other drugs

Fluoroquinolones
  • In man there is an increased risk of convulsions when used concomitantly.
    Anti-hypertensives, eg beta-blockers
  • NSAIDs may antagonize the hypotensive effects.
    Protein-bound drugs, eg coumarins, anesthetics
  • Phenylbutazone displaces a wide variety of protein-bound drugs, thereby potentiating their effects.

with diagnostic tests

  • Phenylbutazone may cause false low T3 and T4 values.
