  • High-dose therapy in conditions where water retention would be a disadvantage.
  • Anti-inflammatory potency 7.5 x prednisolone.
  • Not suitable for alternate day use because of long duration of action.
  • Anti-inflammatory drug.
  • Assessment of adrenal function in suspect cases of hyperadrenocorticism   Hyperadrenocorticism  (dexamethasone suppression test)   Low-dose dexamethasone suppression test  .

Amphotericin B or potassium-depleting diuretics (furosemide, thiazides)

Insulin

  • May antagonize effects of insulin   Insulin  .

Phenobarbital or phenytoin

Non-steroidal inflammatory drugs

  • Increased risk of gastrointestinal ulceration if used concurrently.

Urine glucose levels
