  • Store in a dry place.
  • Unused half tablets should be stored in the open blister spaces inside the cardboard box.

Indications

  • Treatment of congestive heart failure.
  • Treatment of hypertension   Hypertension  .
  • May be of benefit in certain cases of renal insufficiency. Benazeprilat has significant hepatic metabolism.

Interactions

with other drugs

  • Concomitant use with potassium-sparing diuretics, eg spironolactone or potassium supplements may result in hyperkalemia.
  • Can be administered in combination with digoxin, diuretics and anti-arrhythmic drugs.
  • May be increased risk of nephrotoxicity when used with NSAIDs.
  • Use with other antihypertensive drugs, eg calcium channel and beta blockers could cause hypotension.
  • Anesthetics and sedative agents may potentiate hypotensive effects.

  • Raised liver enzymes in humans - rare.
  • May increase creatinine concentrations at the start of the therapy.
