Indications


Reserved for life-threatening conditions.
  • Endocarditis or septicemia caused byPseudomonas aeruginosaandBacteroides fragilis  Bacteroides fragilis  in neutropenic patients.
  • Some other Gram-negative bacilli includingProteus spp  Proteus spp  .
  • More active than ticarcillin againstPseudomonas aeruginosa.
  • For pseudomonas septicemias give with an aminoglycoside (eg gentamicin) as there is a synergistic effect.
    Gentamicin   Gentamicin  inactivates azlocillin if mixed in the same syringe.

  • Enhances the effects of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants.
  • Probenecid reduces the excretion of azlocillin.
