Introduction

  • Most rapid growth period is during first 6 months   →   body weight at maturity = x40-x50 birthweight.
  • Balanced diet - formulated for growth   Dietary requirements: growth  - is essential, primarily increased energy and essential nutrients.
  • Additional nutrients required normally supplied by eating increased quantity of food.

Growing cats do NOT have different nutrient requirements from adults - it is the amount required that alters.
