Introduction

  • Seen in short-faced breeds, eg Persians. May see 90° rotation and overlapping of cusps.
  • Predisposes to periodontitis.

Pathogenesis

Etiology

  • Inherited.

Pathophysiology

  • Brachycephalic/brachygnathic: jaws not able to accommodate number of teeth   →   crowding of teeth   →   rotation/overlapping of teeth   →   plaque retention   →   periodontitis Periodontal disease.
