  • Orofecal transmission.

Pathological effects

  • Cells at tips of intestinal villi destroyed; loss of brush border enzymes leads to osmotic diarrhea.
  • Malabsorption, maldigestion.

Control

Control via animal

  • Isolate susceptible animals during neonatal period.

Control via environment

  • Disinfect with oxidizing agent such as sodium hypochlorite (3%).
