Indications

  • Stabilization of hyperthyroidism before surgical thyroidectomy.
  • Hyperthyroidism has been rarely reported in reptiles and appears to be an uncommon/rare or under-reported condition.

Interactions

with other drugs

  • Phenobarbitone may decrease efficacy of methimazole.
  • Benzimidazole wormers decrease hepatic oxidation of these actives and may lead to increased circulating levels.
  • Thiamazole is immunomodulatory therefore this should be taken into account when considering vaccination programs.
