Introduction

  • Sclerosis of the glomeruli.
  • Renal hypertension is a sequela as it is in other species.
  • Cause: age-related; nephrosis/nephritis.
  • Signs: no obvious clinical signs.
  • Diagnosis: blood chemistries, peripheral blood pressure, ultrasonography, radiography.
  • Treatment: ACE inhibitor for kidney disease; amlodipine or spironolactone for concurrent heart disease.

  • Because of the changes, there is some vascular compromise, but there are changes in the renin-angiotensin-generating enzymes as cells are located in the juxtaglomerular region.
