Introduction

  • Has been used in horses to evaluate thyroid masses.

Radiopharmaceuticals

  • Na 99mTcO4 (sodium 99m Tc-pertechnetate).
  • 131I- (sodium iodide).

Dosage

  • 99mTcO4-: 1.3 GBq (35 mCi).
  • 131I-: 18 MBq (500 mCi).

Uses

  • To determine size and extent of suspected thyroid carcinoma.
