Tests

Methodologies

  • Mix 1 part synovial fluid from plain tube (not EDTA) with 4 parts 2% acetic acid.
  • Leave for 1 min at room temperature.
  • Shake tube to assess integrity of clot.

  • Can be performed in practice laboratory.

  • A subjective test, no definitive result.

  • Interpretation depends on experience.
