Methodologies

  • Total nucleated cell count.
  • Direct smear.
  • Smear of centrifuged plug if low cellularity or preferably cytocentrifugation.
  • Culture of supernatant if peritonitis   Abdomen: peritonitis  suspected. Aerobic and anaerobic culture.
