Interactions

with other drugs

  • Aspirin - increased risk of bleeding due to antiplatelet effect.
  • Barbiturates, griseofulvin, estrogens, progestogens, phenobarbital and vitamin K - reduced anticoagulant effect.
  • Anabolic steroids, chloramphenicol, cimetidine, erythromycin, ketoconazole, metronidazole, miconazole, nalidixic acid, neomycin, paracetamol (regular treatment with high doses), quinidine, sulfonamides, tamoxifen, tetracyclines, levothyroxine, aspirin, phenylbutazone and possibly other NSAIDs - enhanced anticoagulant effects.
  • Phenytoin - both enhanced and reduced anticoagulant effects.
  • Sucralfate - impaired absorption.
