Caudal draw movement test: stifle

Introduction

  • To assess the instability of the stifle joint by attempting to subluxate the tibia caudally with respect to the femur.

Uses

Disadvantages

  • It is rare to find this type of instability in the absence of other ligamentous damage.
  • Often misinterpreted when in fact cranial cruciate ligament rupture Stifle: cranial cruciate ligament disease has occurred because test is begun when the tibia cranially subluxated as opposed to in a neutral position.
