  • 1,3'-bis[3-(4,5-dihydro-1 H-imidazol-2-yl)phenyl]urea; propionic acid.

  • Clear amber aqueous liquid.

Storage requirements

  • Do not store above 25oC/77oF.
  • Do not allow to freeze.
  • Protect from light.

Indications

  • For treatment of large Babesias (eg Babesia canis), Babesia gibsoni and Hepatozoon canis Hepatozoon canis in dogs. 
  • Imidocarb has been used traditionally to treat Ehrlichia canis Ehrlichia canis in combination with doxycycline Doxycycline. In-vivo and in-vitro studies using molecular methods have demonstrated this drug is not effective against E.canis and should only be used where concurrent infection with susceptible protozoa is strongly suspected or confirmed. 
    Imidocarb is not licensed for the treatment of protozoal infections in cats and dogs but may be used off license. A product (Imizol in the UK) is licensed for use in cattle.
