Introduction

General information

  • Originated in Germany as a cattle herding dog, later used as a guard dog. Developed by increasing the size of the Schnauzer.
  • Although powerful, vigorous and hardy, it does not require extensive exercise but does consume large quantities of food.
  • Suitable for the urban environment, particularly colder climates, it makes a good watch dog.
  • Does not always like other dogs and can become territorial.
