Introduction

General information

  • Originated in Greenland, traditionally a general purpose hauling dog. 
  • Similar in nature and function to Alaskan Malamute Alaskan Malamute, Siberian husky Siberian husky, and Canadian Eskimo dogs Canadian Eskimo Dog. Formerly known as the Eskimo dog.
  • Has not taken to domestication like most other breeds, and very "spitz" like in nature.
  • Only suitable for very active owners who are happy to take on the responsibility of very firm training. Not appropriate for families with small/young children and requires and experienced owner ideally.
  • Requires a lot of exercise.
  • Generally quite happy and extroverted. Also known to howl.
  • Most suitable for working.
