Herd health: UK accreditation schemes

Introduction

  • UK cattle health schemes can be broadly split into two categories:
  1. Accredited laboratory based schemes and associated support tools: these are aimed principally at controlling single agent infectious disease.
  2. Schemes based on a structured approach to health & productivity: these are aimed principally at control of multifactorial or management based diseases.
  • This article outlines some of the schemes available in the UK.
