Katie Price to Captain Polo Match
28 Jan - Katie Price (Jordan) is to take part in a celebrity polo match at the British Open Show Jumping Championships in April. Katie will be team captain of a team of three, Team KP Equestrian, and will face another celebrity team which is yet to be announced. The match will take place on Sunday April 19th and will comprise of two chukkas giving visitors an insight into the moves and shots the celebrities have learnt in preparation for the competition.

17 Dec - Research funded by The Horse Trust has shown that some course designers are putting horses at risk of damaging falls by incorporating potentially dangerous fences in cross-country competitions. The study, undertaken by Dr Ellen Singer at the University of Liverpool, is the first such epidemiological survey – previously, suggested changes to course design were based on anecdotal or descriptive information.

Prescription Charge Ban Ends
22 Oct - Veterinary surgeons are now allowed to charge animal owners for writing prescriptions, now the three-year ban on such fees has come to an end. The Supply of Relevant Veterinary Medicinal Products Order 2005 was introduced by the former Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to implement recommendations from a 2003 Competition Commission inquiry into the supply of prescription-only veterinary medicines, which, among other things, found that prescription charges were against the public interest
