Indications

Thromboembolic disorders
  • These may be seen as part of several disorders including glomerulonephritis and feline myocardial disease.

Adverse reactions

Other reported reactions

  • Single dose of 5-50 mg/kg is toxic.
  • Cumulative dose of 1 mg/kg PO for 7 days is toxic.
  • Hemorrhage is the major adverse effect.
  • Other adverse effects reported in man include hypersensitivity, alopecia, rash, diarrhea, skin necrosis, jaundice, hepatic dysfunction, nausea, vomiting and pancreatitis.

Investigation of adverse reaction

  • One-stage prothrombin time (OSPT)  Hematology: prothrombin time  .

Antidote for overdose

  • Treat overdose with vitamin K1  Vitamin K  .
