Uses

Action

  • Relaxes vascular smooth muscle   →   vasodilation.

Indications

  • Urethral relaxation with obstructive urinary disease.
  • CHF  Congestive heart failure  , although it loses its effectiveness with prolonged use.
  • It may be useful in promoting urine flow in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia .
  • May be useful in the management of hypertension associated with cardiac or renal disease.
  • Not used commonly in cats.

  • Hypotension, drowsiness and weakness.
