- Prolonged use of glucocorticoids will suppress the hypothalamic pituitary axis and cause adrenal atrophy.
- Animals on chronic therapy should be tapered off therapy (even following topical administration).
- Vomiting and diarrhea.
- Gastrointestinal ulceration (particularly if concommitant NSAID administration).
- May result in impaired wound healing and delayed recovery from infections.
