Action

  • Principal actions are to increase the force of myocardial contraction and to reduce conductivity in the heart resulting in a slower heart rate and increased cardiac output.
  • Acts by inhibiting Na-K ATPase leading to increased intracellular sodium. Sodium is exchanged for calcium resulting in increased intracellular calcium.
