Pre-breeding considerations

  • Cats should be healthy, wormed, vaccinated (as appropriate for their lifestyle).
  • Blood tests for feline leukemia virus  FeLV test  and feline immunodeficency virus  FIV test  should have been negative since the previous possible exposure to these viruses.
  • Both cats should be free of known genetic defects. Provide client who wish to breed their cats with the Owner factsheet on breeding  Breeding from your cat  .
