Introduction
- Caused by Rhinosporidium seeberi
.
- Polyps produced in nasal cavity leading to nasal discharge and sneezing.
- This organism produces disease in domestic animals, humans and birds.
- Disease only relatively recently reported in the cat.
Diagnosis
Clinical signs
- Nasal discharge.
- Sneezing.
- Polyp(s) protruding from nostrils.
Diagnosis
Differential diagnosis
- Other fungal nasal disease eg cryptococcosis.
- Chronic rhinitis.
- Neoplastic nasal disease.
- Trauma to nasal cavity.
