Errors and Artifacts
False increase
- Renal disease.
- Decreased glomerular filtrate.
- Severe hemolysis.
Frequently elevated in renal disease due to reduced clearance.. - Hyperbilirubinemia (measured by turbidometric method).
- Heparin (anticoagulant).
- EDTA (anticoagulant).
- Glucocorticoid therapy.
