Action

  • As an induction agent and/or maintenance inhalant anesthetic agent
  • Generalized central nervous system depression (produces general anesthesia).
  • Onset of, and recovery from anesthesia are rapid due to the low solubility of sevoflurane.

Effects of overdosage

  • Results in profound respiratory and cardiovascular depression.

Treatment

  • None.

Antidote for overdose

  • None.
  • If signs of overdose occur, decrease or stop administration. Support respiratory function and use positive inotropes to support cardiac function if needed.
