Uses
Action
- Blocks serotonin
and norepinephrine re-uptake in the brain, effectively increasing their effects.
Indications
- May be useful in the management of obsessive-compulsive canine behaviours
such as tail chasing, fly biting, flank sucking, licking associated with lick granulomas
.
- Separation anxiety in dogs.
- Elimination problems in cats.
- It should be used in combination with behavioural therapy for separation related disorders manifested by destruction and inappropriate urination and defecation.

- In man various side effects are described, including sedation, dry mouth, diarrhea, excitability, arrhythmias, hypotension, syncope, weight gain and, much less commonly, seizures and bone marrow disorders.
- Sporadic vomiting.
- Changes in appetite.
- Lethargy.
