Uses

Action

  • Acts as a replacement for natural PGE1.
  • Inhibits gastric acid secretion and increases bicarbonate secretion, mucous secretion, epithelial cell turnover and mucosal blood flow.

Indications

  • Prevent and promote healing of gastric and duodenal ulcers, particularly those associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Adverse reactions

Other reported reactions

  • Diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and abortion.

Treatment

  • Adverse effects usually transient.
