Indications

  • An ultra short-acting barbiturate anesthetic General anesthesia: overview.
  • It is approximately twice as potent as thiopentone, and relatively non-cumulative after repeated injection.
  • In 'sight hounds' it causes shorter recoveries compared with thiopentone.

  • Transient apnea on induction.
  • Insufficient dosage, too cautious administration or the withholding of pre-anesthetic medication may lead to clonic muscle spasms during the recovery period.

Treatment



Clonic muscle spasms
  • Provide a quiet environment for recovery.
  • Pre-medication and analgesia reduces the incidence of excitable recoveries.
