General information

  • Credited to Louis Dobermann, a German tax inspector, in 1880. Derived from German Pinscher and includes Rottweiler, Greyhound and Weimaraner bloodlines.
  • Requires careful training, loyal to family and good guarding breed.
  • Suitable to the urban environment and hotter climates, but is not always good with other dogs.

Colors, markings and patterns

  • Definite black, brown, blue or fawn (Isabella) only, with rust red markings.
  • Markings to be sharply defined, appearing above each eye, on muzzle, throat, and fore chest, on all legs and feet and below tail.
  • White markings of any kind highly undesirable.
